What is your favorite wild animal? A lion, bear -- or a shark? While it's not likely you will run into these animals in your everyday life, did you know there are many fascinating wild animals that live in your very own neighborhood (See our pictures below)? It's true! Some are above you in the sky, in trees or even roofs of houses,

while others can be found in subways, under porches and even walking through your neighborhood park! When human cities expand, many animals are forced out of their homes and often can no longer survive. However, others have learned to adapt well to urban life.
Enter the adorable and adaptable raccoon! Raccoons thrive in cities, where they can scavenge food from trash bins and find shelter in garages or underneath patios. But you won't often see them because they are nocturnal – meaning typically they are awake and moving around at night. However, if you live in a city -- there is a good chance they are somewhere nearby! This we know for sure: All living things need a minimum of food, water and shelter to live. And each and every day animals like raccoons must work hard to find the things they need to survive.
